Silver Lining

Republicans cannot complain about Gov. Paterson's pick of Blue Dog Kirsten Gillibrand for senator. Democratic Governor, Democratic Senator, it could have been worse. It could have been much worse. It could have been Princess Kennedy. Besides being a Blue Dog from a traditionally conservative district, Gillibrand is an upstate New Yorker [upstate New Yorkers understand the importance of differentiation from the city] with a background in securities law who comes from a family with strong Republican ties. Given the alternative, she's a-okay by me. Thumbs up to Paterson.
